2. Who we are
Halt Outdoors is an outdoor-gear company registered in Montana. Address: 218 W Main Street, Suite 4, Bozeman, MT 59715.
3. Pricing
Prices listed are in U.S. dollars. Sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your ship-to state. Promotional pricing may end without prior notice.
If a Shield is listed for less than we intend to sell it, we'll email you and offer either a full refund or a chance to pay the difference.
4. Order acceptance
Your checkout is an offer to buy. We accept the offer when we send the confirmation email. We reserve the right to refuse any order for fraud or operational reasons; refunds are issued in full if we refuse.
5. Payment
All major U.S.-issued credit cards. Payments charge at order placement. Declined cards mean the order is canceled.
6. Shipping
Free ground shipping in the contiguous 48 states on orders over $50. Orders ship within 1–2 business days from Bozeman and typically arrive 3–5 business days later. Alaska, Hawaii, and APO/FPO addresses are available with a surcharge. International to Canada by request — email us for a quote.
Risk of loss transfers to you when the carrier marks the package delivered.
7. The 60-day field trial
If the Shield doesn't do the job — bugs are still biting, runtime isn't matching the spec, anything — send it back within 60 days of delivery for a full refund. The unit can be used, scuffed, even slightly muddy. We pay return shipping in the lower 48. Refunds land on the original payment method within 5 business days of receipt.
One trial per household. Second-order returns are evaluated case-by-case but generally final.
8. The 2-year warranty
Every Shield is warrantied for two years from the date of original purchase against (a) battery failure (USB charging stops working or runtime drops below 50% of spec), (b) heating element failure, (c) housing cracks not caused by impact, and (d) any manufacturing defect. To claim, email [email protected] with your order number and a photo. Approved claims are replaced free.
Not covered
- Drop damage and impact cracks. The Shield is field-rugged, but it's not indestructible. A drop onto rocks from chest height will crack the housing.
- Water immersion damage. The Shield is rain-rated (IPX4), not submersion-rated. Dropping it in a lake voids the warranty.
- Loss of the cartridge or charging cable. Replacement cartridges and cables are stocked in our shop.
- "Doesn't repel every bug everywhere." The Shield works against most flying biting insects within its rated 15-foot zone. Strong wind, dense cover, and certain non-flying biting insects are outside its design envelope.
9. The cartridge
Each unit ships with one cartridge that lasts approximately 12 hours of active use. Cartridges are non-rechargeable; once depleted, replace with a fresh cartridge from our shop. Spent cartridges can be safely tossed in household trash — the active ingredient and the carrier are both environmentally inert at the small quantities used.
10. Acceptable use of the website
You may not (a) attempt to access non-public areas, (b) interfere with site operation, (c) scrape content or pricing, or (d) submit fake orders. Site content is copyright Halt Outdoors.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the products in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by Montana law. Disputes are submitted to binding arbitration in Gallatin County, Montana, except either party may bring a small-claims action.
13. Changes
We may update these terms; new versions apply to orders placed after the update.
